How to stop climate change

What does the news media -- and the rest of us -- need to know about climate change?  I listened to Shell Oil Chairman Jorma Ollila and UC Santa Barbara professor of environmental economics Charles Kolstad respond to this question in Helsinki.   In his prepared statement Jorma Ollila said the developed world must develop the appropriate "policies and incentives" and "lead by example." Ollila and Kolstad both called for a cap and trade system, discussing what it will cost to do this the right way.  They explained why governments must provide R&D incentives to bring renewable energy from lab to the marketplace and why innovation happens so slowly in the energy sector. Alarmingly, Ollila noted that investment in renewables is now falling.
